Non, le Jardin Urbain CÉ est un centre éducatif et non une école. Nous faisons partie d'un alternatif à l'école pour les familles qui ont choisi une éducation sans école. Nous voulons fournir des opportunités d’explorer le monde et être curieux, de passer la journée dans un environnement multi-âge, sans pression, et ce, en dehors du cadre traditionnel de l'école.  Les enfants construisent leur propre éducation en choisissant les matières qui les inspirent année après année. À l'aide de notre centre éducatif, ils peuvent aussi vivre des interactions sociales authentiques et profondes tout le long du chemin.

How should I introduce the idea of flexible education to my child?

Accepted Answer

If your child has never been to school, you can present the CÉ Urban Garden as a flexible way to start/continue their education and plan the schedule together.
 
If you have decided to try something new this year instead of school, you can present the CÉ Urban Garden as an alternative that will allow your child to discover a different balance.
 
If you are a family that is already doing some form of homeschooling, the CÉ Urban Garden will simply be an addition to your learning project.

Préparez-vous les enfants pour les examens du ministère?

Nous offrons, à la Session B, un wild card intitulé « préparation aux examens » s'il y a de la demande pour un tel service.  Dans le cas contraire, nous pouvons référer les parents à des tuteurs et des organismes offrant cette préparation.

How will I be able to monitor my child's progress if there are no homework assignments, exams, or assessments?

Accepted Answer

Teachers regularly and thoroughly communicate their observations of the child's progress, and you can also request a comprehensive written report at the end of each session. Team members are also available for in-person meetings. Furthermore, during activities, children complete self-assessment exercises. This teaches them to measure their own progress.

* Flexible schedule to suit everyone's family rhythm (day, week, year);
* Wide variety of activities offered throughout the year, and time spent outdoors daily;
* Social learning arising from a small group of children and several adults who spend a lot of time together;
* Attitude towards other people of 'power with' instead of 'power over';
* Significant parental involvement in our children's educational process, being parents who provide them with an education without school.
